By buying-in to an upgrade of its existing HR management infrastructure, the bank is showing its commitment to its 8,000 staff
How does a bank established in Indonesia in 1956 and operating with over 8,000 employees across 34 provinces digitalize its management of human resources?
Bank Danamon now operates 856 branch offices, over 60,000 ATMs, and has already digitally transformed its infrastructure to offer not just traditional financial services but also online banking for individuals and businesses.
With the recent COVID-19 pandemic reshaping talent movements and career aspirations worldwide, the bank is cognizant of the need to prioritize talent management as a business asset. According to its head of Business Process and Digitalization Head(Corporate Human Resources), Handri Yustanto: “Bank Danamon prioritizes quality service management, relying on our talent as an asset… and freeing our employees to perform more productive tasks beyond administrative tasks.”
Banking on its existing cloud-based enterprise resource planning platform installed since 2017, transforming human resource (HR) management was painless, because these were features that are available as seamless addons. By opting-in to the upgrade, the bank expects to further enhance its employee engagement (from planning to decision-making) using AI-generated insights and personalized candidate matching in recruitment processes. Furthermore, as the HR module is part of the existing infrastructure, the talent management functions can be access via a familiar dashboard. This centralization of access and data can help synchronize control of data security and privacy risks.
Even the AI features (including generative AI) in the talent management transformation are built on Responsible AI principles, ensuring ethical and sustainable use of technology for the common good.
The bank is already seeing what it calls “significant results”, including improvement in paperless operations, reduction in HR support tickets, greater empowerment of managers, and simplification of HR processes. According to Andreas Diantoro, Managing Director, SAP Indonesia, the firm running the business AI technology, the HR digitalization upgrade “helps achieve accelerated innovation, enhanced user experiences, streamlined operations, and empowered employees… promoting top performance and superior service quality. We are excited to support Bank Danamon in this new era of AI-driven business transformation, continually improving employee experiences and processes.”
